In 2010, I was invited to exhibit The Garbage Can Project at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art as part of the exhibition, artists tell stories (mostly about themselves). The installation consisted of three components, the first being a table featuring a 20”x24” calendar of all of the images from the project, a phone with a looped recording of my phone calls to the City to request replacement cans, a framed letter of gratitude from Mayor Daley, and a service notice that was left on my front door.

The second component of the installation consisted of a computer which looped the complete surveillance footage (10.5 hours), a handmade guide book to help viewers follow along, a houseplant with one of my surveillance cameras hidden within its leaves, and artifacts from my surveillance setup (VCR, digital splitter for combing two cameras, and a 12 hour VHS tape).

The final component consisted of the contents of a suitcase that was left behind our garbage cans on July 14, 2006. A complete index of the contents of the suitcase is available here.
