These large-scale posters were made between 2004-2009 and emerged as an extension of my artist books. Each poster was paired with a short companion film.

POSTERS

Out Of This World was created in 2009 while I was attending the Harold Arts Residency in eastern Ohio. For years I had been fixated on the Brady Bunch episode where Greg Brady creates the illusion of a UFO in his backyard using a plastic tarp, fishing line, a flashlight, and a whistle. His UFO rig struck me as completely implausible and so I decided to reconstruct it as closely as possible to the specifications that he provides in the episode.

This poster is 63" x 44” and details my process as I attempted to reconstruct his setup. Out of This World has been exhibited at Heaven Gallery in Chicago and the Kirkland Arts Center in Seattle.

The Quitter was created in 2005 and documents my last pack of cigarettes before quitting. The poster is 63” x 44” and the accompanying video is a two-channel super-8 film documenting my last cigarette when I tried to quit in 1999 and my last cigarette in 2005. The Quitter has been exhibited at Pitch Projects in Milwaukee (pictured above), the 2007 InnMotion Festival at the CCCB in Barcelona, Galerie f5,6 in Munich, and various other venues.

What Does It All Mean? consists of a
63” x 44” poster and a video exploring the
urban phenomenon of shoes found hanging on telephone wires. This piece debuted at the Peter Miller Gallery in Chicago in 2004 and has been exhibited at Gallery f5,6 in Munich, Germany.
